Frugality over materialism

“Teenage students should be educated on the use of money before or upon the receipt of their first paycheck. The transitory phase from a dependent lifestyle on parents/guardians to an independent one when ones earns monetary remuneration through work can be a tricky alley to navigate – especially in developed nations where materialistic pursuits often supersede the virtue of frugality. Efforts should be made to inform students that self-aggrandisement only leads to an insatiable desire to acquire, and that true happiness only springs from within through a sincere expression of gratitude that hinges on self-satisfaction.”
